WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) — A former dean on the College of North Carolina at Wilmington is returning to the college as its new chancellor, officers introduced Thursday.
Aswani Volety, presently serving as provost and vp for educational affairs at Elon College, was elected unanimously by the UNC Board of Governors throughout its assembly in Chapel Hill. Volety replaces Jose Sartarelli, who’s retiring in June after seven years as UNCW’s chancellor.
Volety is the previous dean of UNCW’s Faculty of Arts and Sciences and former government director of UNCW’s Heart for Marine Science.
