(Reuters) – Two folks had been killed and 6 had been injured when suspected militants opened hearth on a bus in southwestern Rwanda from throughout the border with neighbouring Burundi, Rwandan police mentioned.
Saturday’s assault, which killed the bus driver and a passenger, was carried out by the Nationwide Liberation Entrance (FLN), the armed wing of the anti-government Motion for Democratic Change (MRCD), the police mentioned in a press release.
“Armed thugs, suspected to be remnants of FLN working from throughout the border, shot at a public passenger bus,” the Rwanda Nationwide Police mentioned late on Saturday.
The police had been monitoring down the assailants within the incident on the Nyambage-Rusizi highway within the district’s Nyungwe Forest, they added.
The federal government has mentioned the FLN had launched assaults from the Nyungwe forest space near the Burundi border in 2018.

In April, the Rwandan authorities upheld a 25-year jail sentence for Paul Rusesabagina, who was portrayed within the film “Lodge Rwanda” sheltering tons of of individuals through the 1994 genocide, for his involvement with MRCD.
He was convicted in September on eight terrorism costs, which he denies.
