LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — The annual Kentucky River Clear Sweep is that this weekend, and organizers are asking for volunteers to assist with the hassle.

The occasion takes place on Saturday, and it is Lexington’s first River Sweep since 2019.

Contributors will exit on boats to gather trash from the 12 miles of river linked to Fayette County, organizers mentioned.

Volunteers meet at a website close to the Madison County border at 8:30 a.m. Contributors will return to shore round midday for a free lunch and also will be given a T-shirt.

Put on clothes that may get moist and boots or closed-toe sneakers. Deliver a life vest when you have one. Trash luggage, gloves and a few life vests shall be supplied.

No less than a dozen boats are wanted to move the volunteers. Organizers mentioned in a information launch that members with additional room on their boats may help by carrying others.

Register on-line at LexingtonKY.gov/RiverSweep or by calling (859) 425-CALL (2255). Anybody below 18 wants a waiver signed by a mother or father or guardian.

Town of Lexington and the Kentucky River Authority sponsor the occasion.
